West Loch Tarbert
After having rained through the night I was pleasantly surprised to see blue sky when I poked my head out of the tent.

With just my lunch and waterproofs I caught the 08.10 school bus into Tarbert.

It was to be mainly road walking along West Loch Tarbert but I did expect to walk on some of the Kintyre Way.

Looking to Kennacraig Ferry Terminal with the Islay Ferry having just left

At least on this side of the loch the road was more open so I did have some good views.

Footpath
I would have assumed that the Kintyre Way followed the coast but it actually zig-zags from one side of the peninsula to the other.

The KW (Kintyre Way) came across to this side at Clachan and followed the main road for a mile to Ronachan where it then squeezed between the road and the shore.

The first little bit was okay through estate grounds but then it was through ferns and nettles. It had been cut down a while ago but it had soon grown back.

Looking to Rhunahaorine Point
I gave up after a while, it's bad enough having to contend with ticks but on top of nettle stings, no thank you. I went back onto the road.

Just past Balochroy the shore itself became walkable, shingle and a bit of sand, so I did end the day on the KW walking back to the campsite..

It seems a long while since I have walked on a proper beach.

What a big claw
I found the remains of a crab or lobster, it would need some size of creel to catch this monster.

Just before I got back to the campsite a cow poked its head out of the window, obviously wondering what I was doing.

Today was more like it, 18 miles of good weather and views and a coastal walk.
