Log No 130. Fri 13th Sep 2013 - Tarbert to Lochgilphead, 14 miles (2013 miles walked)

The typical shoreline of Loch Fyne
Dry, cloudy with a hint of sun and a cool breeze - a good start to the day.

Another relatively short day, taking the bus back to Tarbert for a 14 mile pack-free walk to Lochgilphead.

The bus took 30 minutes, walking took 260 minutes.

The first 3 miles were slightly inland with trees hiding any view of the loch, thereafter the road more or less hugged the shore.

This road had no real hills and my leg didn't bother me too much, I'm sure it was descending the steep gradients over the past 2 or 3 days that caused the problem with my leg.

The end of the Crinan Canal at Ardrishaig
Just before I stopped for my lunch break I watched a car go by me and stop in a layby ahead, as I approached it the driver, Jim, started speaking to me, he had seen me walking earlier in the morning.

We chatted for a while and he gave me a donation, he asked me if I ever 'laid up' because of the weather and then said that Sunday was supposed to be a 'Howler of a day'. Oh good.

Looking to Lochgilphead from Ardrishaig
The Crinan Canal connects with Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig and as it runs parallel with the road I thankfully left the road to walk along the tow path for the final 2 miles to Lochgilphead.

On getting back to the campsite I asked the warden if he knew the weather forecast. He told me he had cancelled Sundays fishing match because of it.

We checked online and it was maybe not quite a howler but Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are all wet and windy.

I was due a rest day on Sunday so I am thinking to take the opportunity to nip home and pick up the campervan. I'll decide after tomorrows walk, another pack-free day to Furnace.
