Congrats on reaching England Dave!
Enjoy Cumbria and part of Hadrian's Wall. It's a lovely county!
So that's Scotland finished. Glad we were there :) Amazing achievement.

Coasting Round Britain

30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Auchencairn to Carlisle (30)
2612 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 170. Sat 26th Oct 2013 - Eastriggs to Gretna, 5 miles (2612 miles walked)

The first/last house in Scotland
It was just a gentle stroll today walking the 5 miles to Gretna and the border with England.

We had been told it was a bad forecast for today but it was dry with very little wind.

Mick & Dave on the border
The first half of the walk was on the B721 to Rigg then we took a minor road into Gretna.

Gretna is still trying to attract weddings and marriages to the town with shops and hotels offering all in one packages.

The "First house in Scotland", where over 10,000 marriages have taken place, does look to have closed it's doors now.

Welcome to England
The Scotland-England border is the River Sark and we crossed over into England at 10.30.

When I was planning the coastal walk Gretna was more or less the halfway point and if I had kept to the actual coast I would have covered 2973 miles.

As it is, I am 361 miles down on the 6000 miles and in terms of 'miles to go' it will be 200 miles to halfway but, psychologically, I am at the halfway point and it's all downhill from here on!!
