30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Aberystwyth to St Davids (38)
3368 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 220. Mon 20th Jan 2014 - Trefin to St David's, 19 miles (3368 miles walked)

The harbour at Porthgain
I was parked up in a layby just outside St David's and the earliest bus I could get from St David's back to Trefin was 08.50 so I had a lie in.

It was cloudy but dry and for a change I didn't need to wear my waterproof trousers when I got going at 09.10, I use my waterproof jacket as a wind breaker until I get warmed up.

The sun was quick to put in an appearance and it looked like being a fine day.

The coastline from Abereiddy
I had to take a small detour round the harbour at Porthgain as the path was temporarily closed while repairs were underway at the old brickworks.

The coastline to St David's Head

The coastline continues to be stunning, even more so in the sunshine.

It must be warm - No hat!
With the weather today you would not think it is still the middle of winter, the temperature must have reached double figures, too warm for long trousers anyway and I had to put my shorts on!

Trying to catch a wave
There was a lone surfer out in one of the bays, I watched him for a while but he wasn't having too much success.

Whitesands
With the cliffs being so high most of the bays are inaccessible and those that are tend to have a stoney beach but Whitesands did live up to it's name, more or less.

The beach was a popular spot for dog walkers.

Life Boat Station at St Justinian
There has been plenty of footprints along the path but I had never seen many people on it but the good weather had tempted a few out today.

A Chough
My camera is unfortunately not really suited for long distance close-ups, being more general purpose and waterproof so the photo of the Chough has not come out as well as I had hoped. This was the first time I seen a Chough - a crow like bird with a red beak and legs.

The coastline from Porthclais
After rounding the last corner of St David's Headland I was walking with the sun behind for my last stretch of coast for the day as far as Caerfai Bay where I got the road north back to St David's.

I got back to the camper at 16.10, having had an excellent days walk of 19 miles in 7 hours.
