573 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 34. Fri 3rd May 2013 - Peterhead to Rosehearty, 23 miles (573 miles walked)

The path by the gas plant
It was raining when I woke up but was down to a drizzle when I came to take the tent down, I was away by 8.00 wearing waterproofs.

There was more beach walking, harder than normal as the tide was only just turning and the sand was soft.

I had a river to cross at the gas plant so just before I reached I went to the car park at Scotston and took the path to the footbridge.

The dunes
I walked alongside the perimeter fence of the gas plant until it veered away from the shore then went up onto the dunes.

I stayed on the top until it got low enough for me to get back onto the sand, now it was more of the same again.

A seal at Rattray Head
After a short break at 10.00 at Rattray Head I rounded the corner and came across a solitary seal.

I stayed on the sand for another couple of hours to St Combs, fortunately I had been able to cross the stream from the Loch of Strathbeg at the sea's edge so that saved a bit of a detour.

Looking to Fraserburgh from Cairnbulg
From St Combs I took the road by the golf course to Inverallochy, it was now 12.45.

After finishing off my lunch I rounded the headland at Cairnbulg then followed the side of the river to the road and stayed on it into Fraserburgh.

I stopped at Tescos for some soup and to restock, when I came out it was raining again.

I pushed on to Rosehearty and guess what, the campsite was closed, just aswell really as it was quite exposed and the wind had picked up too.

Carrying on the coast path for a bit I soon found a fairly sheltered spot by a stone dyke so as long as the wind doesn't change direction I'll be okay.

Tonight was the first time I have had to put the tent up in the rain.
