Excellent details of your walk. I particularly enjoyed reading this one as the birdwatching group did the walk from Wideford Hill to Scapa at the end of Feb. Looking forward to reading more. Good luck. (by Sheila)
I'll just have one more training log, if the weather is decent I'll walk from Aberdeen to Banchory on the Deeside Way on Thursday 21st March (by Dave)

Training Walk - Sunday 3rd March 2013

Leaving the house, with the dog, at 08:30 I went up to the trig pillar on Wideford Hill, it was cloudy but I wasn’t expecting any rain and there was just a light breeze.

Looking south to Scapa from Wideford Hill

Coming off the hill down the road past Heathfield Farm then left and right onto the Bloomfield Road

The path to Hesti Geo
On the Orphir Road I turned right then took the second left to Foveran and followed the track & path down to the shore at Hesti Geo.

It must have been a couple of years since I was last down this way. We have had a good settled period of weather and the footpath along the cliff top was fine & dry and two of the fields were being ploughed.

Looking to Scapa Distillery
With Fulmars gliding by me I continued past the Distillery along to Scapa then round to the Oil storage tanks by the pier.

Here I took the track up the side of the hill through Fea then crossed the main road onto the bridleway.

I was now on my daily dog walk route, I did think about continuing on the footpath to Inganess but decided to keep my boots clean (there had been some very muddy patches on the path on my last two trips down there) and just head for home.

I got back to the house for 12:15.

A 12 mile trip in 3 hrs 45, carrying a 12 Kg pack.
