Coasting Round Britain

30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Toscaig to Corran (16)
1444 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 92. Fri 26th Jul 2013 - Reraig to Shiel Bridge, 12 miles (1444 miles walked)

Dave and Eilean Donan Castle
It was to be a short easy day, 12 miles only, not to break Mick in but because Shiel Bridge would be the last proper campsite for a few days.

There had been heavy rain through the night and it looked like continuing through the day, we got the tents down during a short dry spell and set off in full waterproofs at 09.30.

Mick along Loch Duich
It was far to warm to be wearing waterproofs and we took them off at the first opportunity.

We stopped at the Visitor Centre at Eilean Donan Castle for a drink, during which time the rain had returned.

It was all road walking along Loch Duich and with it being the main road to Skye was pretty busy.

Site of a chain saw massacre?
With the cloud level low there was not much of a view but we did see an otter swimming near the shore.

It had been a while since I last saw a sculpture but we came across this one next to a bus shelter in Inverinate.

Looking down Loch Duich
The rain had all but stopped as we came round the head of the loch and then it was only a short distance to the campsite at Shiel Bridge.

Mick preparing for some wild camps
Shops would be a luxury from now on so we had to stock up whenever we could.

To cover all eventualities we would be prepared for 4 days wild and remote camping.

The evening turned out sunny but was spoiled a bit when the wind dropped and the midges came out.
