Log No 159. Mon 14th Oct 2013 - Garlieston to Newton Stewart, 20 miles (2474 miles walked)
Garlieston from across the bay |
And yet another fine day, the warden at the campsite says rain tomorrow but my phone says it will be Wednesday.
The walk started well with 5 miles of marked footpath round the other side of the bay then along Wigtown Bay and returning to the road at Innerwell.
The coastline from Garlieston |
Footpath |
I was now on the B7004 heading to Wigtown and I took a break at a picnic spot in Kilsture Wood, this was also an ideal place to stay in the camper tonight.
Wigtown |
They are nowhere near as comfy as my boots and are also a bit on the tight side, I could always put my boots back on if necessary.
I soon joined the main road, walking through Kirkinner, Braehead and Bladnoch before getting to Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town.
Fly Fishing |
I was feeling really good, the sun was still shining, there was hardly any traffic on this minor road and, more importantly, I had no pain from my achilles.
Coming into Newton Stewart |
All in all it has been an excellent day of 20 miles, my shoes may cause a problem being a tad small but it looks like it is boots that have been affecting my Achilles.
The only minor dent to the day was when I reversed the corner of the camper into a tree.
