Coasting Round Britain

30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Start - Withernsea to Redcar (1)
37 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 2. Sun 31st Mar 2013 - Skipsea to Flamborough, 16 miles (37 miles walked)

We set off at 8.30, in the sunshine, but it was still a very cold wind, there was some ice on the tent this morning.

Getting back down to the cliff we found the road we should have been taking had gone so there was a slight detour to get back onto the cliff top.

The going was again easy and we stopped in Bridlington for tea & scones at 11.00.

At Bridlington
After dodging the crowds on the sea front we got onto the well trodden path to Flamborough Head.

With these chalk cliffs being a lot higher than the clay cliffs there were quite a few drops and climbs to cross the streams.

Flamborough Head
We reached FH at 13.50 and then had to decide whether to have a short day or another long one as it was 6 miles between the next 2 campsites.

After opting for the nearest one we had steak pie & chips in the cafe at the car park for FH to save cooking in the tent.

We carried on to Thornwick Bay where lots of people were exploring the caves then made our way to the campsite at the holiday park.

When we were told the site fee to pitch our hike tent was £24 we decided to go somewhere else and found a site just outside the village of Flamborough for £13, we ended up walking 17 miles today.
