Log No 246. Sat 15th Feb 2014 - Burnham-on-Sea to Bridgwater, 14 miles (3749 miles walked)
Mick looking back to Burnham-on-Sea |
The forecast was for a windy morning with showers and this proved to be the case as we left at 08.00. Between the showers we had blue skies and sunshine.
We crossed over the River Brue at Highbridge and walked on the footpath along the south side of it to get to where the River Parrett flowed into Bridgwater Bay.
Dave looking across to Combwich |
Across from Combwich we cut off a loop in the river by taking a road towards Gaunt Farm and re-joined it there.
Coming into Dunball a Dutch firm was busy pumping water out from one of the many drains in the area into the River Parrett, presumably to help get the water out of the flooded Somerset Levels.

The public transport for the next few days looked problematic, especially with tomorrow being Sunday, so we called into the Tourist Information to see if they could help.
We didn't get anything sorted and we don't really want to have to take tomorrow off, particularly as it is probably going to be the best weather for the week, so we still have a bit of thinking to do.
