30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Grimsby to Withernsea - The End (63)
5560 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 364. Thu 3rd Jul 2014 - Humberston to Immingham, 14 miles (5560 miles walked)

Mick in Cleethorpes
Karen dropped Mick & I off back in Humberston at 08.40 and was going to pick us up again by Immingham Docks at 14.30.

There was a bit of sunshine as we walked into Cleethorpes but it was mainly cloudy.

Dave looking to Grimsby
We continued walking along the seafront towards Grimsby until we found the way barricaded before we got to the Fish Docks.

Luckily we had just passed a footbridge over the railway line so we didn't have to go right back into Cleethorpes.

Grimsby Docks

We followed the road next to the railway line going past the houses to the Fish Dock area. We may not have been seeing the sights of Grimsby but we certainly had the smells with the fish factories and shops.

Looking back to Grimsby
Once we had passed the docks we were able to get onto the path/cycleway on the defensive sea wall along the bank of the Humber.

Dave along the sea wall to Immingham
We had 3 miles along this wall going past four industrial complexes and we only met two guys fishing from the back of a van and three cyclists.

Looking to Immingham Docks
As we got close to Immingham Docks we took a footpath to get onto the main road round the outside of the docks.

We had realised that we were likely to finish an hour earlier than planned evrn though we had been trying to walk slower than normal.

We hadn't expected to find a cafe but we came across one near the docks and managed to make two mugs of tea last nearly an hour and we ended up getting to the rendezvous point a couple of minutes after Karen & Sandra.

It had been an easy 14 miles.
