Log No 244. Thu 13th Feb 2014 - Weston-Super-Mare to Burnham-on-Sea, 13 miles (3735 miles walked)
The beach from Weston-Super-Mare |
It cleared by 10.00 and with the tide being out I walked along the beach to the end of the bay at Uphill.
The River Axe flowed into the bay here and there was no easy way to cross it so I followed the cycleway signs to Brean.
A dead badger |
It was a fairly boring trek on the road and the only point of interest was seeing a dead badger.
The weather had brightened up and the showers looked to be done with for the time being at least.
The beach to Burnham-on-Sea |
The map shows the route as being above the high tide line but the tides of the last few weeks have been right up to the dunes and it looks like quite a lot of it has been lost recently.
While I was walking along the beach I saw 3 surveyors recording the edge of the dune line.
The Leaning Tower of Burnham |
The tower of St Michael's Church was definitely leaning over and what made it more odd looking was that the doorway in the tower was vertical.
St Michael's Church |
Well the good news is that Mick got his train tickets changed to come a different route avoiding the flooded areas and will meet up with me tomorrow as planned.
I'll need to do some spring cleaning to make room in the camper for him and his kit.
