Log No 150. Sat 5th Oct 2013 - Glen App to Stranraer, 11 miles (2346 miles walked)
Amazing, it's dry, I drove to Stranraer and got the bus back to Glen App for 10.00, I hadn't realised yesterday but this is the end/start point for the ACP.The Loch Ryan Coastal Path (opened 2009) now takes you to Stranraer and from there the Mull of Galloway Trail (opened 2002) gets you to the Mull of Galloway.
None of these routes are shown on the OS maps.
It was only 11 miles today so I took it easy.
Stenaline Ferry to Belfast |
I had a quick break after only half an hour at Finnarts Bay then carried on to Cairnryan.
Two ferries run to Ireland from here and they each have their own terminal, one to the north and the other to the south of the village, going to Belfast and Larne rerespectively.
Cairnryan |
P&O and Stenaline Ferries |
My Achilles were hardly bothering me at all today but I still took another break after an hour and finished off my lunch.
Stranraer |
The Stenaline ferry used to run from here but since it relocated to Cairnryan the harbour front looks pretty run down at the moment.
I am meeting Andrew & Rosie at the campsite in Stranraer, they have actually stopped taking tents now for the season but are letting them pitch on a small area at the back of the site.
Will it be another dry day tomorrow?
