St Davids to Tenby (39)
3383 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 221. Tue 21st Jan 2014 - St David's to Broad Haven, 15 miles (3383 miles walked)

Caer Bwdy Bay
What a difference to yesterday, gritters were out last evening but it never got cold enough to freeze and by morning it was raining.

Porth y Rhaw
I started walking at 08.40 in all my waterproofs and with the wind coming from the south the rain was mainly on my side.

Coming into Solva
Although my camera is waterproof it wasn't a day for taking photos.

After Solva
The scenery was just as good as it has been but the paths were better, nice and grassy.

Porthmynawyd
I had more streans to cross today so there was a lot of dropping down to near sea level and climbing back up again so rather than taking photos of the coastline I thought I would show these crossings.

Pwll March
After climbing back up at Pwll March I turned south and dropped back down to Newgale.

The map shows a long sandy bay, which it may be at low tide but all I could see was stones.

The last storm had thrown all the stones onto the road making it impassable and a digger was still trying to tidy up.

The wind had strengthened and the rain was coming down harder and I was walking straight into it.

It was 11.30 and I hadn't taken a break yet, I was tempted to stop at a cafe in Newgale and get a meal but I didn't like the thought of having to put my waterproofs back on again after sitting down for a period so I carried on walking. I only had another 5 miles to go to finish at Broad Haven.

A Grand Design
It wasn't much fun walking into the heavy rain so I decided to take the minor road rather than the coastal path.

I came across an interesting house and from the road I could see right through the windows to the sea.

Broad Haven had another big bay and there were a couple of sail boarders out on the water, I don't suppose the rain was bothering them.

It was 13.20 and with the bus not due until 14.45 I had a meal in a cafe.

This stretch of coast I am on now does not have a daily bus service and I had to get a bus in to Haverfordwest then another bus back to St David's.

There is no bus tomorrow.

A wet 15 miles.
