Log No 59. Thu 6th Jun 2013 - Tongue to East Strathan, 7 miles (1002 miles walked)
The beach at Skinnet |
It had rained through the night and was a cloudy morning, I gave the weather time to improve and didn't start until after lunch.
I had fresh meat for lunch, a caravanner on the site here had caught more than he needed last night and was giving them away. I cooked it in the morning and had it in sandwiches.
Taking Holly with me I went along the road until I could get down onto the sand so I could let Holly off the lead.
Talmine from Ard Skinid |
Having to lift Holly over the fences was also hard work so when I got to Talmine I dropped her back off at the campervan and continued on my own.
Port Vasgo |
I had a shock when I came round the point, there were about 40 people coming up the hill, they were on some kind of geological trip and were looking at the rock formations.
The bays near Midfield and East Strathan |
Not that I needed one but the sun was out so I stopped for a break and sat there thinking how much I am enjoying this. Of course I haven't had a bad day, weather wise, yet.
The rocks at Midfield Bay |
I didn't gain much as I still had to climb the hill to get to the last bay.
Then it was back down the road to get back to the campsite.
This is Sandra's last day, she is back on the ferry to Orkney tomorrow so reality may hit hard when I am carrying a full pack again and don't have the luxury of the campervan.
