Log No 13. Thu 11th Apr 2013 - Alnmouth to Beadnell, 15 miles (219 miles walked)

Samantha dropped me off at the Red Lion at 8.25, it was cloudy like yesterday but a bit windier and still no warmer.

I got down to shore and onto the beach getting back up to the cliff at Seaton Point and passing through the few houses at Boulmer after an hour.

James had told me of this freshwater spring below the cliffs so when I got to the footbridge over the stream just before Howick I stopped to look for it, and it wasn't difficult to find.
Water was bubbling out of a hole of about 150mm in the top of a rock, the rock itself would be covered by the high tide.

Fiona had phoned last night to say they were driving to Newcastle tomorrow so they would meet me for lunch today. We arranged to meet at Low Newton-by-the-Sea.

I stopped for a break at 10.35 then carried on past Craster, going below the ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle and onto the sand at Embleton Bay.

I stayed on the beach, coming up at the Ship Inn. Fiona had text to say they would arrive at 12.40, it was now 12.20.

There was no spare car parking here so I walked up the hill to the car park to wait for them, they weren't long in arriving. We decided to go to the Joiners Arms in High Newton to get our lunch.
I said goodbye to them at 14.00.

I got back onto the path and met Rob at the footbridge over the stream into Beadnell Bay. He had a caravan in the Park at the end of the Bay.

We chatted about walks we had done in Scotland while we walked into Beadnell.

This was my destination for the day and I was at the campsite by 15.00 and the site fee was £4.35, much more reasonable.

It had been an easy 15 miles and the sun had come out aswell.
